The re-hook

So this is the Notion workspace that me and my club have created.

Quickly clarifies the product and context to transition from social intro into relevant value.

Why it works

The video works because it’s a grounded, real-world testimonial from a recognizable context (UC Berkeley), which boosts trust and relatability. Instead of abstract praise, the student points to specific sections (homepage, weekly events, member resources), showing how Notion directly solves an organization problem for a student club. The casual, over-the-shoulder feel and quick Q&A (“did you make this yourself?”) keep it conversational rather than salesy, ideal for top-of-funnel social proof.

Swipe-file takeaways

  • Anchor testimonials in a specific, aspirational context (e.g. a known university or company) to make them more relatable and credible.
  • Have the user briefly screen-tour concrete sections (homepage, weekly events, resources) instead of speaking in vague generalities.
  • Include a simple build-process question (“did you make this yourself?”) to highlight that the setup is achievable with templates, not just experts.
  • Let the customer speak in casual language (“We love it!”) to preserve authenticity over polished scripting.

Full script

We're here at UC Berkeley, and we have... Charlie! So this is the Notion workspace that me and my club have created. Our club is right here in Net Impact Berkeley. Whoa! We really like Notion because it gives us a lot of compartmentalization options. We're able to create a lot of folders, like this is our homepage. We have a weekly nib, weekly events, and things to showcase to different members in our community. We love it! Okay, and so did you make this yourself, this workspace? It was a team effort, and I think we used a combination of templates and also just building it from the ground up.
