MP4 to MP3 Converter

Why use Jupitrr's MP4 to MP3 converter?

A real MP3, not a renamed file

The audio is decoded and encoded with a LAME MP3 encoder at 128 to 320 kbps.

Never uploaded

Your MP4 file is converted inside your browser and never leaves your device.

Free, no watermark

No signup, no install, and nothing added to your file.

How it works

Choose a MP4 file

Drop a MP4 video up to 1 GB onto the converter, or pick it from your device.

Pick the audio quality

Choose 128, 192, 256, or 320 kbps depending on whether the audio is speech or music.

Extract and download

Your browser drops the video track, encodes a real MP3, and lets you preview it before downloading.

How does MP4 to MP3 conversion work?

Keep the sound, drop the picture.

An MP4 holds a video track and usually an AAC audio track. Converting MP4 to MP3 discards the video, decodes the audio, and encodes it as an MP3, the audio format that plays in every music app, car stereo, and podcast tool.

Because only the audio is processed, conversion is fast, and the MP3 is a small fraction of the video size.

When to reach for it

Podcasts from video episodes

Publish the audio of a recorded video episode.

Lectures and webinars

Listen back to a session on your phone without the video.

Voiceovers and narration

Reuse the voice track from an old video in a new edit.

Transcription

Send a small audio file to a transcription service instead of a large video.

Frequently asked questions

Does MP4 to MP3 conversion lose audio quality?
MP4 audio is usually AAC, and MP3 is a different lossy format, so converting re-encodes it. At 192 kbps or higher the difference is very hard to hear for speech and most music.
Why does it say my MP4 has no audio?
Some MP4 files, such as screen recordings made without a microphone, have no audio track. Others use an audio codec the browser cannot decode. Check that the video plays with sound in your browser first.
Which MP3 bitrate should I choose?
Choose 128 kbps for speech and the smallest file, 192 kbps for a balanced result, or 256 to 320 kbps when music detail matters more than file size. A higher bitrate cannot add detail the source audio never had.
Is my MP4 file uploaded to a server?
No. The MP4 file is read and converted by your browser on your device. It is never sent to Jupitrr, and closing or refreshing the tab clears the working files.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 1 GB can be converted. Larger files can run out of browser memory, so trim or compress very long recordings first.
