MOV to WebM Converter

Why use Jupitrr's MOV to WebM converter?

Lighter files for the web

The video is re-encoded to VP9 or VP8 with Opus audio, so it is ready for the HTML video element.

Never uploaded

Your MOV file is converted inside your browser and never leaves your device.

Free, no watermark

No signup, no install, and nothing added to your file.

How it works

Choose a MOV file

Drop a MOV video up to 1 GB onto the converter, or pick it from your device.

Keep WebM selected

WebM is already selected. You can switch to another output format if you need one.

Convert and download

The video is converted in your browser. Preview the WebM file, then download it.

What is a MOV to WebM converter?

From Apple capture to open web video.

MOV is the QuickTime container that iPhones and Macs record to, usually with HEVC or H.264 video. WebM is an open, royalty-free format for the web that holds VP8, VP9, or AV1 video with Opus or Vorbis audio.

Converting MOV to WebM re-encodes both the picture and the sound, so it takes longer than a repackage. The result is often smaller than the original, which helps page speed for background and hero videos.

When to reach for it

Website hero videos

Use footage shot on an iPhone as a light background video.

Screen recordings for docs

Embed a QuickTime screen recording in a help article.

Web apps

Ship video assets in an open format your stack expects.

Smaller previews

Create a lighter copy of a large MOV for sharing on the web.

Frequently asked questions

Why is WebM unavailable in my browser?
The converter only enables formats your browser can encode. Chrome, Edge, and Firefox can create WebM. If WebM is greyed out, try one of those browsers.
Will my iPhone HEVC video convert?
It converts when your browser can decode HEVC, which Safari, and Chrome or Edge on most recent Macs and Windows PCs, can do. If the video does not play in your browser, it cannot be converted here.
Does MOV to WebM lose quality?
The video is re-encoded, so there is a small change in quality. Pick a higher quality setting for footage with lots of detail or motion.
Is my MOV file uploaded to a server?
No. The MOV file is read and converted by your browser on your device. It is never sent to Jupitrr, and closing or refreshing the tab clears the working files.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 1 GB can be converted. Larger files can run out of browser memory, so trim or compress very long recordings first.
