Why check safe zones before posting?

Three platforms, one frame

Switch between TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, or pick All for one merged set of zones.

Scrub any moment

Play or scrub the video to check captions and faces at every point, not just the first frame.

Stays on your device

The video is never uploaded. The overlays are drawn over a local preview in your browser.

How it works

Drop a 9:16 video or image

MP4, MOV, WebM, PNG, JPG, or WebP. Other ratios are cropped to fill the frame.

Pick a platform

Switch between TikTok, Reels, Shorts, or All. Scrub the video to check different moments.

Adjust and re-check

Move captions and faces out of the yellow zones in your editor, then check again.

What is a safe zone checker?

See your video the way the feed shows it.

A safe zone checker overlays the regions where a short-form app draws its own interface, the top bar, the right action rail, the bottom caption block, and the navigation bar, so you can see whether captions, faces, or text will be hidden before you post. With Jupitrr's Safe Zone Checker, drop a 9:16 file, switch between TikTok, Reels, Shorts, or All, and scrub to any moment. The zones approximate current app layouts and can change as the apps update.

When to reach for it

Caption placement

Confirm burned-in subtitles sit above the caption block and clear of the action rail.

Repurposed landscape clips

Check where a 16:9 clip lands once it is cropped to vertical.

Text overlays and CTAs

Keep end-card text and handles clear of the yellow zones.

Briefing an editor

Share the zone layout so everyone works from the same guides.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Safe Zone Checker free?
Yes. It is part of the Jupitrr Free Video Toolkit. No signup, no watermark.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The file stays in your browser. The overlays are drawn on top of a local preview and nothing is uploaded.
How accurate are the overlays?
They approximate the current layouts of each app. TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube change their interfaces regularly and vary by device, so treat the boxes as guides, not exact measurements.
What if my video is not 9:16?
The checker always fills the 9:16 frame, so a landscape or square file is cropped the way most apps crop on upload. To convert the file itself, use the Video Resizer. Its Auto Face Tracking option keeps the speaker in frame when going vertical.
What does All show?
One merged set of zones covering the top bar, right action rail, bottom caption block, and navigation bar across all three apps. If your captions and faces clear the All zones, they clear each app individually.
Where should burned-in captions go?
Above the bottom caption block and left of the action rail. If you are adding captions with the Auto Subtitle Generator, raise the position slider until the text sits above the yellow zone.
