Why use Jupitrr's M4V to MP3 converter?

Works with exported M4V files

Videos exported from iMovie, HandBrake, and other Apple tools convert to MP3 in seconds.

Never uploaded

Your M4V file is converted inside your browser and never leaves your device.

Free, no watermark

No signup, no install, and nothing added to your file.

How it works

Choose a M4V file

Drop a M4V video up to 1 GB onto the converter, or pick it from your device.

Pick the audio quality

Choose 128, 192, 256, or 320 kbps depending on whether the audio is speech or music.

Extract and download

Your browser drops the video track, encodes a real MP3, and lets you preview it before downloading.

How does M4V to MP3 conversion work?

The audio from an Apple video file.

M4V is the Apple variant of MP4, used by iMovie exports, HandBrake, and the iTunes Store. It usually carries H.264 video with AAC audio.

Converting M4V to MP3 ignores the video, decodes the audio, and encodes it as an MP3. Purchases from the iTunes Store are protected with FairPlay DRM, so browsers cannot read them and they cannot be converted.

When to reach for it

iMovie projects

Keep the soundtrack or narration of an exported iMovie video.

Lessons and talks

Listen to a recorded class or talk without the video.

Podcasts

Publish the audio of a video episode exported as M4V.

Transcription

Send a small audio file to a transcription tool.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert iTunes movies to MP3?
No. Movies and TV shows bought from the iTunes Store are protected with FairPlay DRM, which browsers cannot read. DRM-free M4V files, such as iMovie or HandBrake exports, convert normally.
Does M4V to MP3 lose audio quality?
M4V audio is usually AAC, and MP3 is a different lossy format, so converting re-encodes it. At 192 kbps or higher the difference is very hard to hear.
Which MP3 bitrate should I choose?
Choose 128 kbps for speech and the smallest file, 192 kbps for a balanced result, or 256 to 320 kbps when music detail matters more than file size. A higher bitrate cannot add detail the source audio never had.
Is my M4V file uploaded to a server?
No. The M4V file is read and converted by your browser on your device. It is never sent to Jupitrr, and closing or refreshing the tab clears the working files.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 1 GB can be converted. Larger files can run out of browser memory, so trim or compress very long recordings first.
