Jupitrr Privacy Policy
Effective: September 27, 2022
The Jupitrr privacy policy is used to inform our visitors about our policies on the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.
Purpose of Our Policy
Jupitrr Limited (Business Registration No.: 72338750-000-10-20-0), (“Jupitrr”, “we”, “us” or “our”) understands that protecting personal data is important. We have adopted this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) to notify you about the practices we have in place regarding the handling of your personal data when you use our Services (defined below).
In relation to all of Jupitrr Services, we do not sell personal data.
What is Jupitrr?
Jupitrr is an online video creation platform available at jupitrr.com (the “Platform”, or the “Services”). Our Services allow you to upload, create, edit and export videos.
Jupitrr services can be used by a number of different types of users including individuals and entities. How we collect and process personal data from each user type varies. In some circumstances, we determine the purpose of processing personal data as a data controller (if relevant under applicable privacy laws), and in other instances, we process personal data on behalf of our business and organizational users as a data processor (if relevant under applicable privacy law). This Privacy Policy relates to our processing of personal data (as a data controller, if relevant under applicable privacy law).
Information Collection and Use
Users can explore the website, view content, and create new digital media using our tools without providing any personal information. Our service only collects personal information about a user if the user registers for Jupitrr by signing in.
For a better experience, while using our service, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information. We retain and use that information as described in this privacy policy.
You agree that we may use the personal information you submit to us in order to:
- Accomplish our business purposes, including to deliver or provide our services, establish or maintain customer or business relationships, improve our services, provide access to Internet-based or e-commerce activities, perform accounting functions, and conduct other activities as necessary or appropriate in connection with our services.
- Market our products and services to you, including sending you information about products, services, or promotions (you may opt out of these promotional communications by following the opt-out instructions in each message).
- Send you service updates, announcements, and alerts related to our services, including notices of security incidents, downtime, or planned maintenance.
In addition, Jupitrr may transfer or disclose personal data to our service providers under written contracts as needed for such service providers to perform services on our behalf, including to fulfill our obligations to you. Service providers and business partners that are provided information under this section will not use personal data for any other purpose. If we become aware that a business partner or service provider is processing your personal information in a way contrary to this privacy policy, we will take reasonable steps to prevent or stop such processing.
Last, we will, in our sole discretion, disclose your personal data to third parties in certain additional limited cases: (1) when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with Jupitrr’s rights or the rights of our customers or vendors; (2) when we believe in good faith that the law requires us to do so; (3) to a subsequent owner, co-owner, or operator of a site or applicable database in connection with a merger, consolidation, or restructuring, or the sale of substantially all our interests and/or assets, or other corporate change, including during the course of any due diligence process; and (4) in situations involving threats to the physical safety of any person.
The app also uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. These third-party services include but may not be limited to the Facebook and Google OAuth login. The terms of this privacy policy do not apply to the methods for collecting information used by such third parties or the use of the information they collect. You should review their privacy policies if you have questions about their use of your data.
YouTube API Services
Jupitrr uses YouTube API Services to enable features such as searching for YouTube content and incorporating it into your video projects. By using these features, you acknowledge that Jupitrr accesses certain YouTube data on your behalf, subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
What YouTube Data We Collect
When you use YouTube-powered features on Jupitrr, we may collect and temporarily store:
- Video metadata (title, description, view count, like count, channel name, thumbnail)
- Search results returned by the YouTube API based on queries you enter
- Your connected YouTube channel information (name, avatar) when you authorise YouTube upload
How We Use YouTube Data
YouTube data is used solely to power features within Jupitrr, such as displaying reference videos, enabling research on trending content, and uploading your finished videos to your YouTube channel. We do not use YouTube data to serve advertisements, build advertising profiles, or share data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Data Retention
Cached YouTube metadata (such as video titles, thumbnails, and view counts) is stored for a maximum of 30 days. After 30 days, cached data is either refreshed from the YouTube API or deleted. If you remove a YouTube reference video from your project, the associated cached data is deleted within 7 days.
You may request immediate deletion of any YouTube data we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. We will action your request within 7 days.
Revoking Access
You can revoke Jupitrr’s access to your Google account at any time by visiting the Google security permissions page. Revoking access will disconnect your YouTube account from Jupitrr. Note that revoking access through Google does not automatically delete data already cached by Jupitrr — to request deletion of that data, please contact us at [email protected].
Information We Collect on Our Website
We may obtain various types of personal data about users of our services and non-customer website visitors. This data may include:
- Contact information (name, address, phone number, email address)
- Information about products ordered or provided
- Information collected through Internet-based and e-commerce activities such as from log files, cookies, clear gifs, images, and scripts
- Customer service and demographic data
- Information from our third-party service providers
We may also use certain tracking technologies to collect, store, or accumulate certain non-personally identifiable information concerning your use of our website, including your browsing history, preferences, internet addresses, unique identifiers, device types, device location, and other similar information.
Legal Bases
When we process your personal data, we will do so in reliance on the following lawful bases, where required by applicable law:
- Legitimate Interest – Jupitrr does this in our interest to support and promote your use of the Platform.
- Consent – Jupitrr will ask you to agree to this. If you don’t agree, we won’t do this.
- Contract – We will do this as part of our contract with you, as per our Terms and Conditions.
Jupitrr engages third parties to provide services (i.e., process your personal data) on behalf of Jupitrr. On the basis of service contracts, these third parties provide services on our behalf. We may also disclose your personal information to our legal and professional advisers and may also use and disclose your personal data as required or permitted by applicable law.
How Your Personal Data Is Shared
Users can choose to share their videos and content within their Jupitrr account(s). Content may contain personal data. Users may choose to share their content by:
- Downloading a video, and sharing the video file
- Directly uploading, creating, sharing and/or publishing a web link of the video
- A video can be directly embedded into external websites and social media platforms.
While Jupitrr makes the opportunity available for you to share your content with others, such as by uploading videos to YouTube – and while we have worked hard to refer our users only to those parties whom we believe take a responsible approach to personal data handling – it is up to you to determine whether you are comfortable with the privacy practices of those parties before doing so. We encourage Jupitrr users to take a moment to review the privacy policies of sites or services that may be linked via our Platform.
Jupitrr does not sell or share your videos or other personal data, including with advertisers, sponsors, content providers, media outlets or law enforcement, unless:
- We have your express permission (e.g., you have expressly chosen for your review of our platform to be published), or
- There is a lawful ability or requirement for us to do so (e.g., we receive a court order to produce the information).
Jupitrr does not control, however, how your personal data is used and shared by private individuals (e.g., where you share your video to social media, or your image is contained in a friend’s video) or Entity users (e.g., where a video featuring your image has been created by the company you work for).
Can Children Use Jupitrr?
Jupitrr does not directly market to or provide our video editing services to children under the age of 13. As such, children under 13 may not register an account with us. It is a requirement of our Terms and Conditions that you are at least 13 years old, or are the minimum age required by the laws of your country, to sign up to an account with us or use our video editing Services.
If we discover that a child under 13 (or the minimum legal age depending on your country) has provided us with personal data or registered an account with us, we will immediately delete their data. If you are a parent or guardian and become aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we can securely destroy their data.
Children aged less than 18 years, but who are at least 13 years or the minimum legal age in their country, are able to create an account and use the Platform and Services provided that a parent or legal guardian agrees to supervise them in doing so. For more information see our Terms of Service.
There are instances, however, where we will collect personal data of children on behalf of an Entity user. An example may be where an Entity uses the Jupitrr Platform to upload, edit and store an employee’s video (i.e., where Jupitrr is a contracted service provider to the Entity).
How Your Personal Data Is Stored and Transferred
Personal data collected by Jupitrr may be stored and processed in your region, and in any other country where Jupitrr or our affiliates or service providers operate facilities.
We take steps to ensure that the personal data we process under this privacy policy is processed according to the provisions of this policy and the requirements of applicable law wherever the data is located. We transfer personal data from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland to other countries, some of which have not yet been determined by the European Commission to have an adequate level of data protection. For example, their laws may not guarantee you the same rights, or there may not be a privacy supervisory authority there that is capable of addressing your complaints. When we engage in such transfers, we use a variety of legal mechanisms.
We take reasonable steps to make sure that third-party recipients located outside your country handle your personal data in a secure manner and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. However, we cannot always ensure that such third-party recipients will comply with your country’s privacy law in relation to your personal data.
How Long We Keep Your Personal Data
Jupitrr will retain personal data for different periods, depending on the purpose for which it was collected. Where we no longer require personal data for the purpose it was collected, we will securely destroy that data.
Where you have synced and stored your files in the cloud, and subsequently cancel your subscription, your files will be stored by us in the cloud for 30 days after your subscription ends. However, your projects will still be stored on your local device unless you have deleted them.
There may be times when you no longer need your account, but do not wish to go through the registration process again in the future. In this instance, a user may choose to de-activate their account. This will ensure your account is no longer active but can be reinstated by you at a later stage. Choose the ‘de-activate my account’ link in your account settings.
A user can also choose to delete their account. When users choose to delete their account, all data held with the account will be deleted and cannot be recovered. Users can delete their accounts by writing to us at [email protected]. The ability to delete your account is part of your personal data rights (i.e., the right of erasure).
How Your Personal Data Is Secured
Jupitrr securely manages and disposes of personal data, by implementing a range of data security practices. We ensure that personal data is appropriately secured both when it is stored onsite or in ‘the cloud’, and we use SSL encryption to store and transfer personal data.
Protection of personal data from unauthorised access and disclosure is a priority for us. Any concerns about the security of your personal data held by Jupitrr should be reported to us by email at [email protected].
